During his escape, Black Panther's son T'Challa blasts Klaw's hand off and severely injures Ulysses. When Klaw realizes no deal is going to be made, he takes action, managing to kill the Panther. Klaw makes his move at a global economic conference where plenty of 'potential employers' gathered. Ulysses Klaw, a Dutch scientist, had developed a weapon that could turn sound into solid objects - as before, it needed only Vibranium to work finally. Klaw is now an assassin, hired to kill him. In this version, his great-great-great grandfather was one of the founders of South Africa, whom T'Chaka killed in a fight. Klaw's origin has recently been ret-conned by Reggie Hudlin in the Black Panther series. Klaw first appeared in Fantastic Four #53 - The Way It Began in August 1966 and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Trapped in a cave, Klaw jumped into his machine and became a being of solidified sound. Things went badly for Klaw and his machinery is overloaded by Black Panther. This machine was able to create solid creatures from sound, and he used them to battle the Fantastic Four and T'Challa (now the Black Panther). Years later, Klaw returned to Wakanda again, and hooked up his new sound converter machine to the vibranium. During the battle, T'Challa blasted off Klaw's right hand with one of Klaw's sound weapons. Discovering this technology needed vibranium to work, Ulysses traveled to Wakanda, following in his father's footsteps in killing their people when they refused to hand over the precious ore. Ulysses grew up and became a physicist working on applied sonics in Rotterdam and the Belgium city of Antwerpen, which eventually led to him developing a sound converter. Fritz crashed landed in Wakanda and sought to murder his way to obtaining the rare metal Vibranium from the people of that nation, but his deadly mission failed. His father was Fritz Klaue, an operative for Nazi Germany during World War II. Erik's plan was to destablize the Wakanda government, so he knew that Klaue was key to everything.Ulysses Klaw comes from a military family. Those notes were likely also how Erik came to learn so much about Vibranium. There were detailed coordinates in the notes, which explained how Erik knew how to find Wakanda even after killing Klaue (who was one of the few people in the world not born in Wakanda who knew where it was located). When he was killed by King T'Chaka, Erik's father left his notes hidden in his apartment for his son to find. You see, Killmonger knew about Klaue's involvement in stealing Vibranium due to Killmonger's father being the one who helped Klaue do it way back when. Well, it's because Killmonger's plan had to do a lot more than just bring Klaue (or his body) to Wakanda. If Killmonger’s goal from the start was to drag Klaue all the way to the Black Panther's homeland, why not simply nab the villain and go rather than orchestrating the apparently unnecessary step of stealing a previously unknown piece of Wakandan history? RELATED: What's Erik Killmonger's Big Plan in Black Panther? So what's the deal? If his goal was to use Klaue to gain entrance into Wakanda, why not just kill him right away? Why actually team up with him to steal Vibranium? However, in the end, after first freeing Klaue from the clutches of T'Challa in South Korea, Killmonger then kills Klaue and uses his body as his "in" with the people of Wakanda (especially T'Challa's oldest friend, W'Kabi, whose parents were killed by Klaue 30 years earlier). In the movie, Erik Killmonger is introduced when he helps Ulysses Klaue steal some Vibranium.
